Friday I was in University Park, Pennsylvania on the Penn State campus to attend a concert. While driving by the Penn State Nittany Lions Stadium trying to find parking, I saw the Joe Paterno memorial statue on the side of the road in front of the stadium. Immediately my photographic senses started tingling. So I made it my goal to try and capture the thoughts and emotions of those grieving the recent death of the famous Penn State football coach, Joe Paterno.

Now if you haven’t heard of Joe Paterno before, you really haven’t been in touch with the rest of the world. I’m not going to go into it, so go and Google news about Joe Paterno and Penn State concerning a controversy about the assistant coach. He passed away about a week ago and the State College/University Park area, along with the rest of the country, are mourning his death.

What really matters isn’t what happened towards the end of his career and life, but what he has accomplished over his lifetime.

The gallery below is dedicated to the memory of Joe Paterno. Enjoy.
