The new Apple iPad

I had the pleasure of being able to catch some of the Apple announcement coverage on Leo Laporte’s TWiT stream.

Apple’s big announcement was their highly anticipated tablet PC they’ve been so hush-hush about for about a year. It wasn’t until recently that the rest of the tech world caught wind of what was up Apple’s sleeve. There was nothing but speculation until the publishing company, MacGraw-Hill’s CEO spilled the beans and confirmed that Apple was indeed unveiling a tablet PC called the iPad. As far as today goes, there was a great line of people waiting to get into the theater where the big man himself, Steve Jobs was going to unveil the new product. The presentation itself was well done from what I could tell. Very professional. Leave it to Apple to start the year off with a bang. Now to be honest, from the presentation of it, the iPad looked a lot like a glorified iPod Touch. Other than the remarkable (and I use that word loosely) resemblance, The iPad may something to offer. Apple is introducing native software to the iPad to enhance productivity and everyday use. Even some of the software included on iPod Touches and iPhones were completely rebuilt to suit the iPad to the letter. There are two different iPads. There is the one with just WiFi and the other with WiFi and 3G.

As far as I am concerned. I like it. I little to similar to some of Apple’s devices but I believe they are getting somewhere. Apple is known to be a trend setter, so we’ll see how things shape up. So far it looks like I’ll bite at Apple’s bait and probably will snag me an iPad. It looks like it can be useful. Don’t you? Leave comments and feedback of your opinions. Here are is the pricing guide and the specs straight from Apple:
