What does the desktop experience in Windows Server 2016 Technical Preview 5 look like? How does it compare to that of Windows 10? Let’s find out!
Few things I will highlight from the video. The Windows Server 2016 desktop is almost identical to that of its Windows 10 client counterpart. This is especially because the server OS finally ditches the ugly “Aero Lite” theme that was present as an option in pre-release versions of Windows 8 and in use as the main theme of Windows Server 2012 and 2012 R2. There is still a user experience issue. No modern app opens without hacking in the main Administrator account that the Server OS creates. Even the Settings app, which includes critical options will throw an error before launching. This is by nature of UWP applications and their compatibility with the built in Administrator account in Windows. But this needs to be fixed.
