Windows 8 offers various types of apps. In the new version of Windows, you will see apps ranging from the types of apps you have been using on Windows 7 or earlier, newer full-screen metro style apps, and those in between, which include the next version of Microsoft Office and Visual Studio, that are desktop apps with a Metro inspired UI.
