Get this Free YouTube Downloader App now from the Store! Recommended

OK, here is another app I’ll recommend to any of you Video Addicts out there. If you spend your better part of the day on YouTube watching the same videos over and over again. You might as well download it locally and watch it till you drop without incurring the wrath of your ISP or pay through your nose with 3G Data cost. The little gem works as advertised, I was a bit skeptical initially so I decided to give it a spin before I recommend it to you guys. What do you know, it actually downloaded all my favorite K-Love Music Videos I threw at it without a glitch. It queues them up nicely and downloads them on the background so that when you even switch away from the app, the download still continues. I suspect it is using BITS transfer service. Awesome. You can choose you favorite file format to download, *.mp4, *.webm etc.

The app is not much of a looker, but that is not why you’ll download it right? As long as it gets the job done, you’ll be doing the looking in your video player trust me.

The App is free of charge, supported by unobtrusive ADs. So go ahead, download the app now and add it to your toolset via the Source Link.

Windows 8’s Media Player loses Media Guide/Store

It appears that Windows Media Player 12 for Windows 8 is not only loosing its DVD playback feature, but also its built in media store, including the outdated and useless Media Guide. Media Guide for Windows Media Player was an online Media Store that started to be integrated to Windows Media Player with Version 7, introduced alongside Windows ME 12 years ago! It was part of Microsoft’s then online media Strategy, branded as “Windows Media” with its newly launched website, The media store has seen some improvements during the Windows XP era but very little during the Windows Vista Era. Habersham Central News: Behind The Scenes

One of my favorite things to write and talk about as a writer and reporter is new technology in local schools. As we earlier posted about Techtronica being featured in Habersham Central’s News program as a standard “commercial” in which we did for non-profit and just to get our word out to teens in communities! One of the things I was given the privilege to participate in as a student at HCHS was the Video/Production class which composed these newscast as 3 different channels. Channel 2, 3 & 4. [Different Periods had their own number] served as our primary names and each channel was graded for their performance uses of technology, etc.

The above all, best thing about this class was this was all brand new technology in a brand new high school. What more could you possibly ask for? We were supplied with an innovative Tri-Caster from NewTek, Sound Board, Mac Pro, Green Screen, Teleprompter, Wireless Mics, Ability to create virtual sets, Panasonic Cameras and more! All of this technology gave as the ability to learn skills that could enable is to produce professional quality videos in an educational environment and standpoint. (No, that was not from our Syllabus) On top of all of this we also had 8 computers operating Windows 7 and another 8 computers (Macs) in the lab running OSX Lion. This was an absolute heaven for myself and any other person that feels “at home” with technology.

Below I have posted pictures of the majority of the equipment used in the control room and recording studio by the classes:

1 of 3 of our Teleprompter Viewers- This is used for our anchors to read their scripts

One of our 3 cameras in our recording room used for production. (Panasonic)
Here is our Sound Board used for daily news production for our recording studio.
A birds-eye view of our front table that controls most of what is recorded in the recording room
Our overhead lights used when production is taking place
Here is our green screen. This allows our TriCaster (below) to use very special affects
Our NewTek TriCaster: This allows us to put our anchors in virtual sets and make very realistic, professional settings
Here is our MacPro used for editing and remastering all of our productions that will be played on our daily news.

Hope you enjoyed seeing a very in-detailed view of the HCHS Video Production Recording & Control Room!

For Gain or Glory? Casey Anthony Goes Viral

Once again the world wide web has turned their direction to a new “discovery” as some would call it or what some could believe it to be a release by Casey Anthony herself. Early morning on January 5th different news sources started getting tips and information that someone had found a video of Casey Anthony speaking out in what is being referred to as a diary while others are referring to it as a waste of time or just flat our pointless. Many news television shows are currently debating on if she’s making money on this, what people would do if she made a YouTube Channel and who would watch it.

“Who would gain from this? Who would benefit?” “Instead of using her time to put herself in a low cut tank top back in the national media, maybe she should be out helping missing and murdered children, for starters” – Nancy Grace- HLNTV

While Anthony’s parents will not comment on the video due to “protecting their daughter’s whereabouts and safety” there is a lot of buzz going on about it on YouTube. As you can see below

many people are re-posting the videos trying to get publicity from it but only one [so far] claims that he was the first to post it to YouTube. Jon Briley is this man who has gotten over 40,000 views from this video [ignore the statistic below the video it’s incorrect] He is the creator of a Facebook page that revokes Casey Anthony and her suspected [but proven innocent] acts and claims that he found the video on a pay-per-view website which he has not yet released the name of. More information is to come about this topic as it is available. You can see the Casey Anthony Video Diary below or clicking here.

Hudl [App & Software Review]

One of the many things I love covering here at Techtronica is sports. For a long time know I’ve been wanting to do a review not only on Hudl itself but I’ve been waiting for Hudl to release their App to the public on the Apple App Store. The time opened up for me to do this on November 15th, 2011. I’ve given the app some time to fix the starting flaws and now I’m starting the review:

Hudl has involved not only football, but basketball, volleyball, soccer, wrestling and many other sports. So what exactly does Hudl do? Hudl stores a team’s film online for only coaches and players to view with an account login. Coaches have the ability to give other coaches accounts, give players accounts and give parents access to their athlete’s account if wanted. Hudl just doesn’t store your film either. Coaches have the ability to break down film into plays by down, yards gained, type of play, result of play, play name, and defensive formations. Players also have some major benefits by using the software as well. Once coaches register their players into their roster they can enter in tons of valuable information about the player including Height, Weight, Awards, Other Activties, Academic Info, Weight Room stats and much more. Not only does Hudl allow for the players to be recognized by their coaches, it allows for major colleges and recruiters to see their stats and all the information that I already listed above. Coaches can choose whether or not to share highlights with the public or only allow coaches and registered recruiters to do so. Another huge thing for football teams is not only just one angle of film but multiple. Hudl allows you to upload film instantly, Replay off camcorder, Import from DVD and about any other way you can think of.

One of the things I absolutley love about Hudl is the way the stats are set up. Once you enter in stats like Down, Distance, Yard Line, yards to go, yards gained, who carried the ball, who threw the ball, who caught the ball, [general stuff like that] it will also appear on “reports”. Reports are coach-created documents that show general stats that look just as professional as somethign you’d see on ESPN. Once these reports are finalized they can be shared with the players if the coaches choose to do so. Once this is done players can go straight to the report and click on a ceratin stat and it will show all the plays related to that stat. Don’t understand that? Will here’s an example:

*Say Kevin Ellison has 2,123 rushing yards on the season, 235 of 403 passes completed, 3 INT’s and 28 TD’s. If you were to go to the report page and click on that 28 under TD’s you would be lead to every play Ellison has scored on. Sweet right?

As Hudl likes to say, “You’re in good company” and guess what? They’re not lying. Teams like Boise State, Oregon, Michigan, Nebreska and NFL tems like the New York Jets. They’ve been talked about by about everyone, this is including; The New York Times, ESPN, and The Washington Post.

As a videographer and film manager for our local high school I can personally say Hudl has not only saved us time but saved as the pain of video editing. [Another one of Hudl’s catch phrases; “Video Editing Sucks”. I say Amen to that now. One thing that really stuck out to me about Hudl was the support team’s quick response time. It was my first year doing videography for the football team and we had some simple problem. I called Hudl’s support line number and was answered within about 20 seconds of making the call. When the guy answered me my first reaction was like, “Holy cow! I’m talking to a real person!”. That’s just another reason Hudl is on top of the food chain. Hudl is among the top ranks of the most inovative software in this current century. Prices are low for the software and can range anywhere from a price range for a youth football team to an NFL team budget. If they keep it up they’ll have everyone else out of business.

Below is the actual App Review that I decided to do on Hudl’s new iOS App. Keep in mind that not only do they have an App on the Apple App Store but also on the Android Market also. Like I said. They’re taking over. I’d like to end on this note: Video editing sucks. Buy Hudl and you’ll not only be supported by the best but you’re always going to feel like the best.

[review pros=”Free on the App Store, Low price of actual software,Ability to download playlists directly to your device, Immediate access through logging in using your email & password, Mutliple Angles Allowed, Ability to sort by categories, Devices- iPod, iPhone, iPad, Android ” cons=”Cannot Play or Create Highlights, Cannot edit player profiles, No support information within App ” score=90]
