This was undoubtedly one of the best conferences I’ve seen all day. Motorola had quite a bit to roll out which they did with style. With that said, let’s look at the goods.
Motorola made it known first that they changed their slogan to something a little more catchy and appropriate, Motorola: Life Empowered. After a little bit of history background, they decided to bring the guns out. And here’s what they brought:
First off, the Motorola Atrix 4G
The Atrix pretty much was the star of the show after it was lauded by a lavish into video and all the specs were declared. Here they are:
- 2 Ghz Dual-Core Processor
- 1 GB RAM
- qHD Display
- 10 mm thin body
- Fingerprint unlock
- Android 2.2 with Sense UI
This luxurious phone also has the option to be paired with two pretty cool docks.
Dock #1: The Multimedia dock
This dock features multiple ports to hook your phone and dock up to. The dock features 3 USB ports, a charging port, and a mini HDMI port. The dock connects to the phoen which then displays a full desktop interface on the TV or monitor you hook up via HDMI. That’s right, a FULL desktop interface. No emulator. No shell. All phone
The second dock is the laptop dock. It is exactly as it sounds, except the laptop itself lacks any processing power, RAM, or disk space. All of that is provided by the phone. The Atrix itself sits in a dock on the back of the laptop. When you open the lid, you are presented with your typical Macbook-esque looking laptop. The screen comes to like when you dock the phone and presents you desktop environment the way you left it.
The pricing on the devices along with the phone were not revealed but were promised to be priced competitively. The phone is being released onto AT&T’s network.
The second device revealed on the stage was the Cliq 2:
- 1 Ghz Processor
- 3.7″ FWVGA
- 5 MP Camera with dual flash
- Wi-Fi Calling
- Wi-Fi hotspot support for up to 5 devices
- Android 2.2 with Motoblur
This attractive phone is designed for the average consumer to keep tabs on their day, plans, news, games, and more!
The phone will be released onto T-Mobile’s network January 19.
Next up is second best of for this particular press conference. This one come with the tag line “The end of waiting,” The Droid Bionic:
- Dual-Core Processor
- 512 MB RAM
- Front+Rear cameras with dual LED flash
- HD video capture
- 4.3″ qHD Display
- Video calling
By far this is no child’s play thing. This phone packs a huge, vivid display and processing for power users who ned to get the job done.
No release date is available, but the phone will be going to you Verizon LTE users out there.
Last but certainly not least is the Motorola Xoom tablet:
- Running Android 3.0 Honeycomb
- Dual-Core Processor
- 1GB RAM
- Front and rear cameras
- 5 MP Camera
- HD video capture
- 16:10 Display
- 3G upgradeable to 4G
This tablet will be on Verizon’s LTE network soon but will initially be on the 3G network. No word on a release date either.
This is one of a few tablets that were expected to be announced at CES. According to the specs above and on the Motorola website, this tablet looks to pose a threat to the rest of the Android tablet world, but it’s a little to early to approach that just yet.
That brings us to the end of what the Motorola conference had to offer. Again, it was pretty amazing and promising.
