Play the Nintendo Classic, Paper Dash, on Windows 8

Random Salad Games have been publishing retro games for Windows 8 since the Consumer Preview was available for beta tester. One of their game is the Nintendo classic, Paper Dash. It has a quirky music and 90’s cartoony look to it. I like it. It’s a good time waster. If you have played it before, you know what I mean; if you haven’t, well, now is a good time to start. Don’t waste too much time, though.

Nintendo Breaks 3DS Ambassador Program Silence

Nintendo has finally broken their silence concerning the next step of the 3DS Ambassador Program.

Consumers who purchased a Nintendo 3DS and connected to the Nintendo Store by 11:59 PM on August 11, 2011, were promised a total of 20 free downloadable titles as a thank you present from Nintendo earlier this year. Members received the first half of their reward in September in the form of ten classic NES games including popular titles such as Super Mario Brothers and The Legend of Zelda. Nintendo promised that the remainder of the gift, ten exclusive Gameboy Advance games, would arrive prior to the end of the year.

Just when the clock was beginning to run out of time, Nintendo broke their silence on the subject. In an announcement to Japan on Wednesday, it was announced that the remaining downloadable titles would be available on Friday, December 16, 2011. It is uncertain when the titles will be unlocked for North American players, but rumor has it that it won’t be much longer.

As an added surprise, Nintendo revealed the titles which would be unveiled, something which has been a secret since word of the gift arrived back in August. Japan users have received SpotPass notifications informing them of the full list of ten GBA games, which consists of:

  • F-Zero: Maximum Velocity
  • Super Mario Advance 3: Yoshi’s Island
  • Warioware, Inc.: Mega Microgames
  • Legend of Zelda: Minish Cap
  • Metroid Fusion
  • Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones
  • Kirby and the Amazing Mirror
  • Mario vs. Donkey Kong
  • Mario Kart: Super Circuit
  • Wario Land 4

Reception to this news has generally been positive, leaving gamers especially pleased by some of Nintendo’s biggest hits, such as Legend of Zelda: Minish Cap and Kirby and the Amazing Mirror. What are your opinions on Nintendo’s latest news? Do you feel that these games compensate for the 3DS price drop in August, or do you wish there had been more? Let us know in the comments!

Nintendo 3DS update & eShop go Live!

After abit of a delay and confusion, the first major update for the Nintendo 3DS is now live and ready to be downloaded. When you turn on your 3DS you will get a prompt and a notification. You can download via the notification. After abit of delay, Nintendo have pushed out their update for the 3DS and made the eShop Live.

Below is the following additions to the 3DS via the update. Also everyone will be treated with a free download of the ’3D Classic’ Excitebike for limited time until July 7th. You can also pick up Pokédex 3D for free too.

-Nintendo eShop

-Internet Browser

-Transfer functionality to move DSiWare from DSi/DSi XL to the Nintendo 3DS System

-Automatic System Updates

-Improved stability and overall performance of the overall system

It is nice to note the features but also some players have been having issues with Ridge Racer after the new update. If you are having these issues, do not fret. They are known by Nintendo and will be addressed in an upcoming Update.

When the update had installed on my 3DS I straight away went to check out the new web browser and to my surprise nothing was really new, just a new UI (which is kinda ok). The only new thing I found was HTML 5 support. Let’s just hope Nintendo add more support for web video playback and other stuff out there in the near future.

After checking out the web browser I went and explored the eShop. You can download you previous DSi Ware Software with ease and see whats out in store for the 3DS and watch game trailers.. In addition Nintendo have added Virtual console to the Shop, which alot of us have been waiting for them to add. Super Mario Land, Tennis and Allyway are the first 3 to be added to the games you can get. Hopefully Nintendo will make the 3DS virtual console page like the Wii one, which the different consoles and game company’s to browse through.

That most of what I can talk about as the rest of the update was Improved stability and performance. I will be bring you and review of Excitebike and Pokédex 3D later this week.

With the Nintendo 3DS update out the way, all we need now is to see what Nintendo has for us later today a E3. I know I’m exited, are you?

NCAA Football 2012

As an American (The one where we actually play with footballs) football fan I am very excited to be composing this post. EA Sports is edging closer to the release of their newest edition of NCAA Football known as “NCAA Football 12″.  New features like being able to customize your conference, where playoff games are played, which conferences play different bowl games and many more exciting features.

Some other exciting features in Dynasty mode is now being able to control what you coach. You can choose what position  to take like Head Coach, Offensive Coach, Defensive Coach. Once choosing the position you will then be given a list of goals for the season. You can see the Dynasty Preview by clicking here.

Just from this small bit of information I’d say we have an excellent game to look forward to.

Also, I know some of you may have looked at the picture above and thought to yourself, “What does this have to do with the new release?” Well, this is (in my opinion and religion) the best ACC team out there. To Hell With Georgia and Go Jackets!

Donkey Kong Country Returns

DKCR_LogoA pretty good logo.

To skip a long story and cut right to the point, I got Donkey Kong Country Returns the other day because it had good reviews and I liked the first DKC, back on the SNES. It had good controls, good graphics, and fun gameplay (it was the perfect difficulty, too.) Unfortunately, DKCR wasn’t quite as good as the first game, but·Nintendo didn’t get everything wrong.
