Hi, this is Nazmus, and I recently decided to download and try out a new app by Microsoft called “Bing Wikipedia”. At first, I was hesitant to download it because I wondered “why would I need a Wikipedia app when the website works well enough?” Well, I was pleasantly surprised when I did download the app. Continue reading
Sometimes we come across a gem in the Store and we appreciate the effort the Dev has put in the App, then we are absolutely blown away when as icing on the cake the Dev makes it free. Such is the case with this NextGraph app in the Store. It is a simple yet effective way to dump your mind of ideas and create simple UML relationships. I was looking for a simple tool in the Store to help understand the relationships in an app I’m currently involved with in a project and I came across this app in the Store. Continue reading

Via @WinObs and @Surfacegeeks the news reached us a few minutes ago, that the much anticipated Project Siena is rearing its head in the Store. You ask what is this all about? It is Microsoft’s take on popular App designer sites like Ideanotion’s “IdeaPress”. Where you can just put some few modules together and voila you have a Windows 8 App! No code, no night after nights of learning a GUI layout principles. Just like Lego, you take all individual parts, stitch them together, add some data component at the background and you have a fully functioning Windows 8 app. Continue reading
Viber for Windows 8 is here ladies and gentlemen. They took their time coming, but they are finally here. Viber is the de-facto Skype competition at this moment, and it is a good thing Microsoft allows them into the Store. Sometimes I wonder how much of Skype tech is in this App. But they differ from Skype in one big aspect, they connect Users via Phone numbers, so they present a coherent telephony profile if you ask me. When you think about Viber you don’t think Social App, but a phone calling app. How about that. Continue reading
The Windows Store is filling up with more and more high quality games that are a blast to play. One of the latest in the series is called “Despicable Me: Minion Rush”. This is the latest in a series of fantastic games released by Gameloft. The game is based on the animated film Despicable Me, where you play as one of the cute, yellow, minions.
Your mission is to run and collect as many bananas as you can. You will have to dodge all sorts of stuff and fight off villains. There is a giant golden cup for the best minion. Can you be the one? The game works great with the Xbox 360 controller. You can use the keyboard as well as touch inputs to play the game.
The entire gameplay is very well animated. Attention to detail has been noted in every single corner of the game, from scenery, to obstacles, to the characters. There is a different animation for bumping in to different types of obstacles. The voice acting is great and you truly become immersed into the game. Here is an example: in the game you will meet your fellow minions who will take your hand and swing you forward. The camera changes angle and the entire scene is immersive like a movie. There is humor throughout the game, from the opening scene to bumping into your minion friends and having them hint your computer screen.
I really enjoy this game, and I think you will too! Best of all, it is free at the time of this writing! So go and grab it, and start your adventure engines!

Some of us have been wondering how long will it take for IMDB App to appear in the Windows Store. Basically, I for one have grown tired of waiting, and whenever an app appears in the Store that gives the same information that IMDB does, I had to take a look. Well, I think my search has ended now with Movie World. With this app you don’t need IMDB App anymore. Does the app need more tweaking? Of course it does, no Windows 8 app is perfect at this moment. I am sure the Devs are working hard to bring you more features. But for now, it is already awesome. Continue reading
